Sun Protection: That's How You do it Right

by Verena Prantl |  | 1 comment

The higher the SPF, the better, right? Well, it's not that easy after all. You really have to protect yourself from UV radiation, but how do you do that correctly? The fact that some sun creams are quite greasy, many tend result in skin blemishes - and therefore many prefer to do without sunscreen. But that does not have to be the case! We have a simple and convenient solution for those who want to protect their skin but do not want to spend their free time reading hundreds of different sunscreen products. Here you get a fast and high-quality solution and you know everything that you should know about sun protection.

Who Invented it?

No, this time it was not the Swiss!

It was the Austrian chemist and alpinist - Franz Greiter from Tyrol. In 1962 he introduced LSF as a term in photobiology and the industry.

This was inspired by something unconventional: namely, because the chemist had analyzed baby smear - scientifically known as ' Vernix Caseosa', also known as vernix, is the waxy or cheese-like white substance found coating the skin of newborn human babies.

As he was an avid mountaineer and of course was not spared by countless sunburns, this discovery, this natural protection of the mother for her unborn child, was a true milestone. Later, he created the first global sunscreen empire with the Piz Buin brand.

UV Radiation - That's Something you Should Know

UV actually means ultraviolet - and you can divide it into three different rays because of its length:

  1.     UVA
  2.     UVB
  3.     UVC

Basically, you should know: the longer the rays are, the deeper they can penetrate our skin and the more they affect the skin. UVA rays are the longest-wave UV rays and there are many indications that they are responsible for photoageing and melanoma (skin cancer) - in short, it makes us get wrinkles faster, makes us look old and is harmful to our health.

UVB rays are shorter waves but are more energetic. They are responsible in a positive way for vitamin D synthesis and a tanned complexion, but on the other hand also for sunburns and pigmentation disorders. So these rays can be dangerous to us.

SPF: Not the Most Advanced Option Today

On any sunscreen you can still read "SPF 30" or 50 or 20. But actually the sun protection factor is not the measure of things, because the SPF prevents the formation of vitamin D in the skin.

Vitamin D not only plays an important role in skin renewal, but also in wound healing or other skin diseases. It also binds free radicals and prevents inflammation. But what is an alternative to the well-tried SPF sun creams? The answer is easy: lipochroman®. This active ingredient not only protects us against UV radiation, but also against pollution that buzzes in the urban city. It's not a mechanical filter, which means it does not clog your pores and you do not feel like you're carrying a fat film all day long.

Lipochroman is part of our sustainable NAVI Anti-Pollution Hydro-Day Cream, which provides the perfect protection against the negative effects of UVA rays and smog, while providing the skin with moisture throughout the day.

With Doris Wagner, there is also a product that helps you to eliminate annoying, dark dark circles. You don't believe it? Then try out the NAVI Ultra-Whitening Serum and convince yourself.

Leider etwas spät gelesen. Wäre im Sommer spannend gewesen – höre lipochroman zum ersten mal, werde ich mir aber merken.
